Library and Information Center

The Central Library plays a significant role to enhance the knowledge of the students and faculty members. It has a rich collection of books, periodicals, back volumes of periodicals, and CD ROMs. The College has a fully air-conditioned, well-stocked library spread over 1260 sq. meters with a seating capacity of 350 students in the Reference Section. It has more than 2000 titles and 10,000 books on various subjects. It subscribes to more than 200 magazines and about 50 National and International journals. The Issue and Return of books is supported by Software. All systems in the college are networked and users can access the electronic catalogue of the Library. The Library itself has 30 PCs to provide instant Internet access. Electronic display and Xerox facilities are also available to the users.

An independent Library website has been developed in which 2000 e-books and 50 e journals are made available on-line. The library remains open from 9.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. on working days and from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on Sunday.

Digital Library Rules:-

Library has networking with the campus network to extend the facility of Digital Library to users. It has proved very useful to the students, faculty as well as library staff as it saves a lot of time. Following services are provided to the users through this facility:

Total collection of Books
Information regarding total collection of books in the library can easily be accessed. It also displays information about the books according to subject, title, author, accession number, call number etc.

Total collection of C.Ds.
The total collection of C.Ds. available in the library can be accessed on the University’s website or library computer. The collection is regularly updated.

Library rules
Library Rules are displayed in Digital Library for ready reference of users.

OPAC System
The On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) helps in accessing the catalogue card with the help of computer. It provides complete information about books regarding their title, author, collaborators, pages, cost, year of publication and other bibliographical details.

Arrangement of Books
It helps to familiarize the user with the arrangement of books/documents in the library and to locate the same.

List of Defaulters
The defaulters are required to pay fine against the late return of books and their list can be viewed on any computer system of the Institutes.

Record of Periodicals
A complete record of periodicals is displayed through Digital Library which also provides information about the date of receipt, volume number, issue number and availability of periodicals in the library.

Record of Newspapers
The day-by-day record of newspapers is available in the Digital Library which provides instant information about the library collection of newspapers.

Abstracting/Indexing of Articles of Periodicals
A special feature of the Digital Library is the generation of database of articles of journals of its own collection. The summary of the articles is indexed and can be searched by topic-wise or through keyword.
